Christmas Party
Once again the childrens Christmas party
was held at Cliftonhill. This year a bumper turnout of around 40 kids reveled in
the games, food and fizzy drinks on offer. A welcome visit from Santa was of
course on the menu to liven things up even more.
A big thanks go to those who helped out on the day - especially the big man in the beard!
October 2007
Quiz
The quiz night was an enjoyable event for those
who attended the Horseshoe Bar and a few hundred pounds were raised through
admission cost and raffle takings.
Pat Darlington was the consummate professional quizmaster once more.

Quiz Night
The third annual Albion Rovers Supporters' Trust quiz night has been set for
Friday 5th October. The venue shall be the lounge of the Horseshoe Bar and the
evening commences at 7.30pm. Cost is just £3 per head and teams consisting of
around 3-5 can obtain tickets from the bar or from the trust committee. The
capacity of the lounge is around double that of the previous venue inside
Cliftonhill.
4th September 2007
The supporters trust recognises that one major reason for low numbers of fans travelling to away games is the high cost and perhaps more so the uncertainty of whether a bus will be running at all and what the cost shall be. Previously it was impossible to say precisely how much a bus would cost until the organiser saw how many turned up on a given Saturday.
Now that uncertainty has been removed with the substantial financial assistance of the trust.
Buses shall run to all away league games (not necessarily to rescheduled matches played midweek) with the exception of Dumbarton which is served by the excellent and reasonably priced rail service direct from Coatbridge and Elgin City which is not cost effective at present although this could be reviewed at a later date.
A page dedicated to the supporters' bus detailing departure times and cost etc. is now available HERE.
The fixed costs shall be as follows :
£5 to East Stirlingshire and Stenhousemuir
£8 to East Fife
£12 to Arbroath, Forfar, Montrose and Stranraer
All buses shall leave from the Horseshoe Bar.
24th July 2007
The programme for the Jock Stein Friendship Cup between Rovers and Celtic being played on Saturday 28th July shall once again be a one-off special souvenir edition with a face price of £2. There are many articles about the legendary man and it's not just a repeat of last years! As usual the Albion Rovers Supporters' Trust has produced the programme and any profits from it shall go into its funds to aid the club.
If you'd like to order a copy of the programme the cost is £2.75 including postage or £3 if paying by Paypal. Details where to send your cheque or which email address to pay via Paypal can be found at the top of this page. We can also accept direct bank transfer at the lower price - ask for details!
The programmes will be sent out next Monday if ordered in time, although please be advised orders sent by post may be delayed due to holidays.
How We Laughed
Friday 13th July saw the Trust comedy night held at the Horseshoe Bar in Deedes
Street. The night was organised by Rovers director and stand-up comic Pat Rolink
who also compered the evening in his own inimitable style leaving nobody in the
audience untouched by a well aimed jibe or two.
First on the bill was Airdrie comic Quentin Reynolds who, not unlike Pat Rolink and the man to follow him on the bill drew on their common home town for a large part of their routine. Needless to say this went down well with a mainly Coatbridge crowd! Next up was the young Damon Mullen in his first ever gig, on the evidence shown he should do well.
Last, but certainly not least onto stage came Joe Heenan who is one of Scotland's top stand-up acts who had the audience in fits of laughter from start to end.

A.G.M.
The second A.G.M. of Albion Rovers
Supporters' Ltd. was held on 31st May at Cliftonhill and was attended by around
a third of members who've renewed their membership.
The meeting opened with the reading of the minutes from the first A.G.M. then trust chairman Lew McWilliam said a few words which was followed by Eddie Hagerty giving the secretary's report. David Herd was next, giving the treasurers report.
During the reports the trust involvement in the Red Card for Racism, Midnight Football and Sense Over Sectarianism campaigns was highlighted. Our continuing employment of a cleaner to spruce things up prior to matches was also discussed and universally agreed to be a positive move.
Although only a third of the trust committee were required to stand for re-election it was thought better that all should stand down and seek election. With the exception of Sam Tennent who was standing down due to other commitments all were re-elected unanimously. The committee now consists of 10 elected and 2 co-opted members.
The trusts' renovation of the officials dressing room and help in the away teams dressing room was also discussed as was the player of the year award which was run and funded by the trust.
Future events were next on the agenda with quiz night and race night mentioned along with a comedy night organised by co-opted committee member Pat Rolink to fund a club mailshot was discussed. It was suggested that the trust should organise a boxing event at Airdrie Town Hall. A good pub guide consisting of brief adverts from local hostelries in match programmes was also mentioned.
The Wee Rovers fund was mentioned as a useful source of income with several contributors gifting between £5 and £25 per month to trust funds. Again it was decided by the meeting that it was best to add the income generated from the scheme to general funds rather than to allocate them to a specific project.
Ground force efforts to improve the stadium including converting the old laundry room into a club shop and providing disabled toilet facilities and a dedicated first-aid room came up for discussion also.
After a brief discussion about trust involvement in the supporters' bus which led to no concrete plans the attention of the meeting turned to the match programme. It was confirmed that the trust would once more be producing the programme and that planning was already underway on that. It was stated that help from fans in acquiring adverts for the publication and providing articles for publication either on a one-off or on a regular basis would be greatly appreciated.
After the end of the formal meeting most fans stayed on for a drink (donated by some committee members) and a chinwag.
16th May 2007
A.G.M.
The supporters trust AGM has been fixed
for Thursday 31st May, venue : Cliftonhill Stadium. The event starts at 7.30pm
and refreshments shall be available.
All members and people who've yet to renew their memberships have or shall shortly receive official notices through the post.
If you've not yet renewed your membership (membership is of course for the calendar year not the football season) please do so by post or in person at the meeting. Fans wishing to join up at the meeting are welcome to do so!
Race Night
The recent trust race night at Cliftonhill was a good night out for the
attendees, raising around £600 for trust funds and some more from bar takings
for the club too!
24th February 2007
A reminder that this Friday (2nd March) sees the Albion Rovers Supporters' Trust race night commencing at 7.30pm. Tickets are £2 per person from committee members and admission includes pie and peas. The trust have obtained a drinks licence for this event on the off chance that anyone wants a refresher!
The races involve horses and are shown on the big screen in Chic's Cafe! There shall also be a raffle with some unusual prizes as well as bottles of drink!
30th January 2007
The committee met tonight mainly to finalise details for the forthcoming race night on Friday 2nd March. The ticket price has been set at £2 which includes pie and peas, horses are available at £3 each for which you name the horse and win a decent prize (bottle of spirits usually) if your cuddy romps home!
There are 8 races with 8 horses in each and each race requires a sponsor who will put up the prize for the owner of the horse which wins the race that bears their name. Prizes are expected to be of a decent standard and shall no doubt generally be a bottle of spirits. Race cards showing the runners and their sponsors shall of course be issued free of charge. As previously mentioned the trust expects to have a drinks licence for the night.
Last years event was a success financially and socially for the trust and indeed some of the lucky punters!
Contact the trust by email or in person at a match (you know who we are by now surely!) to buy tickets and sponsor a horse or race.
9th January 2007
The first committee meeting of the year was well attended and items on the agenda were forward planning for the A.G.M. although no date can be set yet as the financial year has just ended and the accounts needs finalising before being sent to the auditor.
The recent Christmas party was discussed and it's reported that all involved had a great time, first thoughts on next Decembers event were aired.
Various projects involving the club and the wider community were discussed as were a few social events. There is to be a race night held at Cliftonhill on Friday 2nd March which shall be similar to the successful event held last year except it shall involve horse racing rather than dogs. The trust shall be applying for a drinks licence for the evening. A comedy night arranged by Pat Rolink is also being arranged and is expected to be held at Owen's sometime in April.
Membership renewals are going well with standing orders having arrived in the trust vaults. Many membership cards have already been issued and all outstanding ones shall be out within the next week.
