Transfer Ban Relaxed
Teams in the SFL have saw restrictions on transfers relaxed today with the permission of FIFA. SFL teams will now be able
to sign, or take on loan two players in each period of the closed transfer
window (September to December and February to May). Last season the clubs were
allowed a total of two signings during the closed periods of the whole season.
The total ban on signings by SPL teams remains although they are permitted to transfer or loan players to SFL teams up to a maximum of two players to any one club.
Bus
The bus to Cowdenbeath this Saturday will leave (Big) Owens at 1pm, costs are
£6 for Adults and £4 concessions. Seats are limited so you'd be advised to
reserve your seat via the message board to guarantee your place.

3-3
East Stirlingshire got their first point of the
season in a mad 20 minutes as the first was scored in 13 minutes and the final
goal in 33 minutes. Jed Stirling scored two goals from 35 yard free-kicks
although 'Shire incompetence was partly to blame for letting them in. 'Shire had
only scored 2 goals in the league before today.
A match report with pics will be on the site tonight.

Beaten But Not Disgraced
Although they lost 3-1 to Hibs in
tonight's CIS cup match at Hamilton, Rovers played well and led the match for 35
minutes. There was a large crowd from Coatbridge who gave the team their full
backing right from the start. They all went daft when McLaren scored in 7
minutes!
A full report with pics will be on the site tomorrow.
Hibs
The free bus to Hamilton will leave from
Cliftonhill at 6.45 tonight, as at the Partick Thistle match only the main stand
shall be used.
Easter Road Gaffer Tony Mowbray hasn't
been taking any chances, taking his side to New Douglas Park to get used to the
artificial surface. He had the following to say on the official
Hibs website. "We have been training on the surface at Hamilton, and we
were quite pleased with it. I believe it is what they call third generation
field turf, we had two pitches with that at Ipswich and I had trained on it
before although I don’t know if any of our players had. I think it is as good
as artificial surfaces can get, so I’m not envisaging any major problems for
us playing on that surface. It should suit us but obviously there are going to
be two teams out there competing and trying to make it as difficult as possible,
so we are expecting a tough game."
Elgin
It seems that in future Rovers shall not travel up to Elgin/Peterhead on the
Friday night as it seems a pointless expense after last weekends poor display at
Borough Briggs.

At A
Loss In The Highlands
Rovers manager Kevin McAllister was at a loss to
know why his team performed so poorly at Elgin today. After all they had a leisurely
day in Elgin until kick-off, but they hardly managed a shot on the City goal.
A full report with pics will be on the site on Sunday.

Elgin
Update
Rovers head to Elgin on Friday night in high
spirits although it seems that no players will return from injury for the match
at Borough Briggs. Manager Kevin McAllister welcomed the chance for the players
to relax and avoid the obligatory fatigue involved with the long journey north
on the day of the match.

Stenny Match
Rovers beat Stenhousemuir 1-0 thanks to a
spectacular Paul McManus goal and fantastic goalkeeping by Chris Fahey.

Draw At Links
Despite all the injuries to players the
Rovers starting XI was little different than usual, although Selkirk, Richardson
and Wallace made it onto the bench with Paul McManus returning from injury. Chic Connolly started the match and scored
the Rovers goal which was equalised by what was reported as a Jed Stirling
own-goal.
One thing of note was the far-side assistant referee. It was none other than Morag Pirie, the official who Peter Hetherston suggested should have stayed at home to make her husbands dinner when Rovers played at the same venue last season. She (unlike the stand side assistant) didn't give any cause to complain.
Sponsorship
To clarify this offer to join in this websites sponsorship for the Gretna match
on 7th May, any and all money (£90 + VAT per person) will go to the club
(except the VAT of course!). Your webmaster and Rab have stumped up for
ourselves, the package can be extended up to six people.

Injuries
Kevin McAllister's plans for Saturday have been
made very difficult with several injuries picked up last night. Paul McManus is
still out with his back injury and shall be seeing a consultant soon, Jordan
Smith shall miss the next few weeks too. Jim Mercer only featured for 7 minutes
last night due to injury, Andy Paterson, Jamie McGowan and Scott Crabbe also
picking up injuries which may well see several of them taking weeks to recover.
Sponsorship
This website has sponsored the final match of the season against Gretna on May
7th, this match could also be the final match at Cliftonhill. Your webmaster and
an ex-pat fan who shall remain nameless as I'm not sure whether he wants to be
named will be enjoying the inclusive meal at Guidi's and the hospitality of the
club on that day (drinkies, programmes and picking a man of the match). Any fans
who want to join in can do so by contacting us and stumping up £105.75 (£90
plus VAT) each which goes into the club coffers.
