Blue Rovers
It was Rovers who were the blue ones in the Blue
Toon when they lost 4-1. Mark Yardley returned to the squad starting on the
bench and John Bradford started on the pitch. Rovers went 3-0 down before Mark
Yardley was pulled down and Bradford scored the penalty. Jamie McGowan was
credited with an own-goal to conclude the scoring.
A full match report will be on the site tomorrow.
Tommy Tait
Former Rover Tommy has signed for former Cliftonhill manager Mark Shanks at Ayr
United, Tommy is now 37.

Fans' Forum
The club is looking to arrange a fans' forum,
Kevin McAllister and Scott Crabbe will be in attendance. The club are looking to
arrange it when suitable to fans, a Thursday night around 7.30 pm is preferred (after training). You can suggest when the meeting should be held on
the message board.
Gretna
The club has agreed to bring forward the Monday 27th December match at Gretna to
Saturday 20th November as both sides received byes in the first round of the
Scottish cup being played that day. This reduces pressure of matches played over
the festive period. League permission has still to be granted but this is
unlikely to be refused.

Yards Double
Rovers reserves beat Queen's Park 3-2 at
Cliftonhill tonight with Mark Yardley scoring the 2nd and 3rd. 17 year-old Ian
Douglas opened the scoring for Rovers which was equalised and then seconds
before half-time a Queen's shot bounced in off the inside of the post.
Mark Yardley levelled the match after a goal-line stramash and then bagged the winner with a spectacular 35 yard free-kick which gave the 'keeper no chance whatsoever. Pleased with his feat and the adulation of the handful of fans he took a bow in our direction.
Chris Fahey, Joe Boyle, Jamie McGowan and Chic Connolly were amongst the youth players on the field.

Gretna'd Again
For the second time this season Gretna bagged 6
goals against Rovers. Gretna stay second in the league despite their goal
scoring average now being 5 per game for the last 5 matches, Rovers stay 9th.
Despite a reasonable start Rovers went 5-0 down before substitute John Bradford pulled two back only to see the Borders club get another.

Photos
Whilst planning a new calendar costing around £5
which has already (via the message board) been the subject of much interest from
fans a large cache of photos has come to light at Cliftonhill. The pics date
from around 1997 onwards and are available to fans who'd like a few - we suggest
a donation to club funds commensurate with the quantity! Contact John Reynolds
to get your hands on them.
Fahey
The Airdrie & Coatbridge Advertiser has reported that Chris Fahey was
dropped from the team to play in Methil for off-field reasons. We understand
that this is indeed the case but understandably the reasons behind the decision
remain between "The Cat" and "Crunchie".
Reserves
Rovers reserves who are in largely made up of the youth players
will take on Queen's Park reserves on Tuesday (26th) at Cliftonhill with a
7.30pm kick-off. Kevin McAllister has confirmed that he shall be playing in some
reserve matches.

Scottish Cup
The draw for the 1st and 2nd rounds of the cup were
made today. Rovers were given a bye in the 1st round and a home tie against Arbroath in the 2nd round which will be played on 11th December.

Ninth
Rovers slumped to 9th place in the league after
losing 1-0 to East Fife who leapfrogged into 8th place. Partly due to injury
Kevin McAllister tried a different starting line-up. Mark Peat was preferred to
Chris Fahey in goal and once more Mark Yardley wasn't picked at all and John
Bradford stayed on the bench. Chris Silvestro and Jim Mercer watched from the
stand due to injury and Jered Stirling took over as captain.
A full match report with pics will be on the site tomorrow.
Scottish Cup
The draw for this first and second rounds of the Scottish Cup (starting on
Saturday 20 November) will take place at 1.30pm on Tuesday 19th October within
the debating chamber of Glasgow University as their team has made it through the
qualifying stages.
The following non-league teams are in the draw Cove Rangers, Huntly, Inverurie Loco Works and Keith from the North. Glasgow University, Whitehill Welfare, Dalbeattie Star and Edinburgh City from the South.

Injury Update
Club captain Jim Mercer who has been suffering from
injury for a few weeks as well an illness in his family has torn a muscle and
could be out for several weeks. John Bradford seems to have recovered from his
injury as he played in today's reserve match.
Reserves
A young Rovers team which included Mark Peat, John Bradford, Graeme McCaul and
Joe Boyle were comprehensively beaten 5 - 0 by Falkirk this afternoon at
Cliftonhill. The goals were scored in 11, 38, 61, 77 and 90 mins, the first
two goals both being scored by the same player. Rovers hardly had chance
of a goal although John Bradford came close seconds before Falkirk bagged their
second. Falkirk hit the metalwork on no less than 3 occasions. Managers Kevin
McAllister and "Yogi" Hughes (former colleagues) spent the match in
each other company while their deputies (as is normal at such matches) ran the
teams.
Striker
Rovers fielded a trialist striker although the tall 19 year-old who plays in the
juniors didn't get much chance to impress.

Bus To Methil
JJ informs us that a 24 seater bus will depart from
Owens at 1pm on Saturday. Prices are £6 for adults and £4 for concessions, due
to the limited number of seats it's suggested that you e-mail JJ at wearingshades@hotmail.com
or text him on 07866 481272 to reserve your seat.

Injury Update
John Bradford is still suffering from tonsillitis
and it's unclear when he'll be fit to return. Chris Silvestro is still suffering
and may not be available for a while yet.
Fresh Blood
Kevin McAllister is looking over a striker at the moment and had hoped to play
him in a reserve game this week, unfortunately it was cancelled.
Crunchie Plays
Kevin McAllister put on his boots once
more this week. Rovers under 19 side faced a Scottish Police team and Kevin
McAllister was stripped for the police side as they were short of subs. As it
happened a few of their number turned up and Crunchie played the second half for
the Rovers. The match ended in a two all draw, the wee man didn't get on the
scoresheet. There is no suggestion that he will play in first team matches.

Not At The Races
Rovers poor league form continued at
Central Park, Cowdenbeath when they lost 2-0. Mark Yardley - dropped? Chris
Silvestro and John Bradford, injured all missed the match. Rovers slumped to 8th
place in the league when Cowdenbeath leapfrogged them, they're just one point
ahead of next opponents East Fife (who incidentally had two men red carded today
who shall miss the game in a fortnight).
Despite the win Cowdenbeath sacked manager Keith Wright and assistant Mickey Weir shortly after the match!
A full match report with pics will be on the site tomorrow.
