Dinner
Friday evening saw the 9th annual Albion
Rovers Sportsmans' Dinner held once more at Drumpellier Golf Club. Opening
remarks were made by club chairman Frank Meade and then the packed house were
regaled with stories true and otherwise by John McKelvie MC and speaker as well
as the other guest speaker Murdo McLeod. Former top whistler Hugh Dallas
couldn't make it due to refereeing administration commitments.
After the obligatory "Kings & Queens" game in which one lucky entrant won £200 and after dinner the customary auction was held, commercial director Patrick Rolink acting as auctioneer. A signed Roy Keane Celtic jersey went for £1050, a weekend in Lochgoilhead for up to 12 people fetched £550 before a Rangers top signed by the player of the purchasers choice went for £550. The next lot was a signed Celtic jersey from their 1998/99 championship winning year which went for a mere £650. The last item for auction on the night was a Rovers change top signed by Sir Bobby Robson amongst others which went for £450 and the purchaser has promised to have it framed and lent back to the club for display!
A raffle distributed several bottles of alcoholic beverages and a Rovers hospitality package to entrants and a good evening was enjoyed by all, not least those seated at the supporters' trust table.
There were a few players at the event including former Cliftonhill favourite Chris Silvestro and current favourite and player of the year Gordon Lennon who took time out to speak to fans attending the dinner. He thanked fans very much for the award and the support in general and expressed his happiness at playing for Albion Rovers.

Golfing Event
Club commercial supremo Patrick Rolink has issued the following request to fans
through the website.
In order to reach as many companies in the area without spending any money, it would be a great help if every reader approached their employer where possible, and asked the company to support the Rovers Golf Day. Please make a point of speaking to your boss over the next couple of days, or if you play golf, why don't you get a couple of mates to join you and put your own team in.
The event is on 29th May at Shotts Golf Club and full details are contained in a letter from Patrick to prospective golfers and you can get it by clicking HERE.
