Groundforce
As in previous years there are plans afoot
to tidy up Cliftonhill for what is likely to be it's final season before
redevelopment. The supporters' trust committee has discussed what needs done and
indeed had a walk around the stadium last Saturday to pinpoint what can be done.
To that end volunteers (whether trust members or not) are invited to the stadium next Thursday (2nd June) around 7.30 PM for some basic tidying up, rubbish clearing and the like. If you can bring tools such as brushes, buckets, bags etc. it would be most helpful.
At a later date (Saturday 18th June is pencilled in at the moment) a painting day will be held although it may well be much more than just painting. Further evenings and probably Saturdays will also be scheduled for helpers to do all sorts of things.

Stadium
John Reynolds had the following to
say "The meeting with the developers was very positive and will now go to
the next step to progress the matter. For reasons of understandable
confidentiality at this stage no further information is available in order not
to prejudice the deal."
Prices
Admission prices for next Season will be Adult £10 Concession £5. Season
tickets will be Adult £120, Concession £70, Youth 12 - 16yrs £30 and children
under 12 will be admitted free provided they are accompanied by an adult.
Accounts
John Reynolds stated "the remaining accounts will be ready for signing off
next Friday." This shall presumably be followed shortly afterwards by the
announcement of the date of an A.G.M.
Manager
The Board have decided to advertise for a Head coach to oversee
the First Team. A decision on the appointment will be made sooner than later.
QOS
Rematch
Slightly less than a year after Rovers won 2-1 at
Palmerston in the 1st round of the CIS cup they will play there again, this time
in the 1st round of the Bell's cup. The match will be played on Saturday 30th
July with a 3pm kick-off.
Play-Offs
The SFL are to introduce play-off from
next season, the system works as follows :
Teams finishing second and third in Divisions Two and Three will face one another in a play-off semi-final. And the fourth-placed team will face the side finishing second bottom in the league above in the other semi before a grand final, all over two legs.
Top teams in Divisions One, Two and Three will all go up automatically and likewise bottom teams will automatically go down.
League Expulsion
Any team finishing bottom in Division Three in successive seasons will be
downgraded to associate member status (i.e. losing their vote). If
no improvements were made after another two years, they could be voted out of
the league.
Scottish Football League secretary Peter Donald said :
"It increases the size of target of the clubs when they start off the
season. The first target, of course, is to be the
champions. But, if you can make it to the top four,
you still have a chance of making promotion.
Hopefully, that will engender greater interest for the clubs and spectators and
generate extra income as well."

Soccerfest
Reports from the annual event which was held at Cliftonhill
on Saturday report it was a great success with hundreds in attendance. Chick
Young was on hand as usual to feed and water the visitors, pulling in a fair sum
for the club.
Admission Prices
The SFL recommended minimum admission price for the 3rd division next year have
been set at £10 adults and £5 for concessions, Rovers have yet to set their
prices.

Sportsman's Dinner
The annual event was held at Drumpellier
Golf Club on Friday, the guest speakers were John Robertson, Tom Peterson, and
Fraser Elder all of whom were received very well by the audience. A few thousand
pounds were raised by the sale of tickets for the event, raffles, competitions
and auction of signed Celtic, Craig Bellamy and Rangers jerseys as well as cup
final briefs and a weekend at Slaley Hall.
Some photos of the event courtesy of club photographer Dominic Smith will appear on the website later.
A big thanks goes to Frank Meade for inviting Supporters' Trust related folk, such as your webmaster to the dinner.
Mercer
We understand that the former captain
(referred to as Hen Broon at the dinner) is likely to sign for Alloa Athletic.

Contracts
The players offered new contracts by the club are
Jered Stirling, Lee Wilson, Scott Friel, Danny Black, Andrew Selkirk, Gary
Richardson, Garry Fleming and Chris Fahey. It remains to be seen whether any of
them will sign.

Kit News
Due to various circumstances, not least of which
was being unable to get fans to agree on the new kit from those available the
club has decided to keep the current one for another season.
Players
The club shall be holding talks with a few
players this week with a view to re-signing them. As the budget has
significantly shrunk from previous years it remains to be seen if the players in
question will accept the offers on the table.
Stadium
Although things are still very much under discussion the club has no
announcement to make at the moment.
Dinner
The Sportsman's Dinner being held this Friday evening at Drumpellier Golf Club
should be successful as around 140 seats have been sold. Guest speaker John
Robertson may be even more interesting as he's parted company with Hearts. The
usual auction in aid of club funds includes a signed framed league winning
Celtic jersey from 1997-98 season which should be worth a few quid.
Soccerfest
Jimmy Lindsay shall be presiding over his usual post-season event at Cliftonhill
this Saturday. From 9AM till 5PM 36 teams of 10 and 11 year olds shall take part
in a tournament, teams featured include Celtic, Rangers, Aberdeen, Dundee
United, Falkirk, Aberdeen, Hearts, Hamilton Accies and Clyde. At the end of the
day there shall be a parents v coaches match which Jimmy is perhaps rather
wisely avoiding playing in by being the referee.
Youth System
Youth supremo and outgoing caretaker manager Jimmy Lindsay has suggested that a
meeting with fans could be held to explain how the youth development works. As a
new manager/coach is due to be appointed it may be best to wait until then and
have a fans' forum.

Season
Over
The season ended as expected - a defeat at home to
champions Gretna, this time they only managed 5 goals against Rovers.
A full match report will be on the site tomorrow.
U Turn
According to press
reports Rovers are looking at alternative ways to keep some players
full-time at Cliftonhill.

Rovers Fined
Rovers have been fined £2000 by the SFL after irregularities
in a young players contract.
Jimmy Lindsay is quoted in an English based paper as saying "The player filled out an amateur form then handed it back. I wasn't there when he signed it and signed the witness box separately. That's what we were fined for, not forging a signature. I wouldn't put through a form that wasn't signed, but we did make a mistake and that's why we've been stung."
SFL secretary Peter Donald is quoted as saying "The suggestion from the player seems to be that the form was forged and we punished them accordingly."
Relegation Proposed
The SFL AGM on 27th May will vote on a rule change which would see any team finishing
bottom of the 3rd division for 2 successive seasons be reduced to associate
members and 2 years later having to prove they're worthy of staying in.
"How they'd be replaced remains to be seen" Peter Donald, secretary of
the SFL added.

Complete Clearout
All players currently on the books at
Cliftonhill are being released after this Saturday's match against Gretna. All
of them were out of contract and it would seem that the club hasn't enough cash
to re-sign them. The money provided through the SFL has been greatly reduced due
to things such as the Pools companies refusing to pay anything for using the
league fixtures. At the time of writing the future of the youth system is
unclear as is the future of caretaker manager Jimmy Lindsay.
It's known that the club is in debt although the exact amount will only be known when the accounts are issued.

Herdmania
As previously reported Andrew Herd (in his early
20's) was indeed the club mascot at Methil yesterday. As you can tell from the
pics below he relished in the role!
