Sponsorship
Would you like your name to appear in next years Albion
Rovers programme which shall once more be produced by the Albion Rovers Supporters'
trust?
Cost this year is £35 for one player or £60 for 2 players. People who were sponsors last season have first refusal on the man they sponsored last time so the ones available at present are Ciaran Donnelly and Iain Chisholm along with new boys Joe Savage, Alex Cleary and Gordon Moffat.
Pay to any committee member or by Paypal or post (cheque to Albion Rovers Supporters' Ltd.) address details here!
It would be helpful if sponsors from last year let us know whether they wish to be doing it again this season or not. People are free to change the player if they wish although the only available ones are listed above and we'll list any other becoming available as soon as it's known.

Signings
Manager Jim Chapman reports that he is
delighted that all players offered contracts with the exception of Martin Bonnar
who has just got married and is yet to confirm whether or not he shall do so,
have agreed to new contracts.
In addition Joe Savage, formerly of East Fife and Stenhousemuir, Alex Cleary formerly of Harmony Row which is where Gordon Lennon came from and more recently in the juniors, 22 year old Gordon Moffat from Annan Athletic and Peter Watson from Dalbeattie Star have also agreed terms. Jim says he's on the look out for more players, 3 strikers being amongst those on his shopping list and some players are mulling over offers from Rovers.
Pre-season officially commences on July 1st when the players have been assigned 10 sessions to prepare them physically and mentally for the forthcoming season although they shall of course be keeping fit in the meantime Jim says.
Around 5 friendlies shall be arranged in preparation for the campaign, look out for an announcement tomorrow of at least one of those!
Behind The Scenes
General Manager John Reynolds has the following to impart to fans
"On the playing front all of the players bar one whom Jim offered terms to have accepted. In addition there are five other signings to date prepared to put pen to paper.
Thanks to the Supporters Trust the away dressing room and referees room have both had major makeovers and we shouldn't receive the usual snide remarks next Season.
We are pushing ahead trying to satisfy the SFA criteria for national club
licensing but one area we are having problems with is a nominated Club Doctor.
The doc doesn't have to attend matches but be available for any referral from an
injured player. If anyone knows a doctor who would volunteer for this please let
me know.
As I type the pitch is undergoing major renovations by the Thistle Group and
their colleagues who have promised that there will be a vast improvement on the
pitch for the new Season.
Due to a variety of issues the Board have taken the decision to employ a
security company for stewarding the Stadium on matchdays. This is a major step
forward by the Club and indicates their desire to be more professional in
a variety of areas.
The old laundry will be renovated to become the Club shop. Pat Rolink has come
to an arrangement with David Angus of Dee Sports in Whifflet to take over the
running of the shop. David will stock the shop with a greater variety of souvenirs
than the Club were previously able to do.
The new playing kit for the new Season has been picked by the manager and the
Board and will be supplied by T.F.G. both Home and Away are cracking strips and
I don't think anyone will be disappointed (fat chance!!!). The Home kit is
yellow top with red inserts under the arms; shorts are yellow with a red band
insert and the socks are yellow with a red top and red calf insert. The Away kit
is the complete reverse. We have retained our current away strip as our third
choice kit.
The Board have also taken the decision to stop supplying alcohol on matchdays
and are turning the lounge into the Enigma Cafe in an effort to encourage more
families to the games. This decision was the subject of much debate but I can
assure you despite appearances at most matches during the Season the lounge was
not cost effective both financially and in terms of manpower effort.
Before the start of the Season the new dugouts will be constructed on the far
side.
All in all things are moving in the right direction."

Vandals Hit Cliftonhill
One evening last week vandals sneaked
into Cliftonhill at night and did a considerable amount of damage to the stand.
As you can see below the damage consisted of ripping seats from their mountings,
writing on some seats and putting many holes in a divider wall. This is
particularly disappointing when fans are about to start the annual spruce up of
the "old girl" in preparation for next season.
As you can see in one pic Dave has signed one seat, Brady another, Tony and Stephen the others!
The club has since taken measures to hopefully prevent any further damage in the stadium.

World Cup At Cliftonhill
The Albion
Rovers Supporters' Trust are holding a series of events at Cliftonhill to
coincide with the World Cup. The first such event is being held next Saturday
(10th June).
We shall be viewing the England v Paraguay match (k-o 2pm) on the plasma screen in the soon to rebranded Enigma Cafe (currently known at the lounge) as well as enjoying a barbeque outside on the track or under the covered enclosure if a bit damp. After the match there shall be a bit of comedy from Pat Rolink and a sports panel consisting of former Cliftonhill favourite Ray Franchetti and another sporting celebrity too be confirmed (possibly a "Lisbon Lion"). Those who wish to stay on afterwards can take in the Trinidad & Tobago v Sweden (k-o 5pm) game too! Jim Chapman may also be present to update fans on team matters.
Cost for the barbeque is £5 per adult, kids free!
A note to all - if you wish an alcoholic drink at the event bring it with you. The event is not exclusive to members and is open to all!
Sponsor Required
This website is looking for a business
sponsor. A sponsor would of course be entitled to some advertising space to be
agreed although we'd like to remain unencumbered by huge ads all over.
The money would go towards running costs and possibly a revamp! Contact details HERE.
