Due to extremely frosty conditions the reserve
match scheduled for today at Cliftonhill has been postponed.

Reserves
For those of you missing your footy and
who are still on holiday on Monday Rovers reserves are playing Ayr United at
Cliftonhill with a 2pm kick-off. It would seem likely that many fit team
players will turn out to keep match fit.

Due to ongoing computer problems this is
likely to be the last update of the site before Christmas. Any important news
in the meantime shall be posted on the message board, probably by weerover.
Happy Christmas to one an all, even supporters of other teams!

Back To Winning Ways
It wasn't pretty and certainly wasn't
easy but after six straight league defeats in a row Rovers finally won a
match. It took an own goal but the team go into a festive season shutdown on a
high. The crowd was a very disappointing 175 (Christmas shopping, poor weather
and poor results for both teams taking its effect).
A match report with a pic or two will e linked from the fixture page on Sunday.

Rovers Beat Rovers
Albion Rovers beat Carluke Rovers 3-0 on
Tuesday night. The team had a sprinkling of 1st team players including John
Bradford and manager Kevin McAllister too. All three goals were scored by Marc
"Squib" McKenzie.

News
General manager John Reynolds reports that a fans forum is likely to take
place around late January. Chairman Andrew Dick advises us that an A.G.M. is
also likely to take place around that time and that despite newspaper talk of
Ally Graham applying for the job Kevin McAllister definitely has the managers
job until at the least the end of the season.
Kevin McAllister hopes to arrange a bounce game for Friday 19th or Saturday 20th with another team without a cup game, as long as they're not in the 3rd division.
Crunchie
While at Cliftonhill yesterday I had the
opportunity to meet Kevin McAllister and ask him some questions as well as
take a few pics (one of which is below). Click here
to see the full monty.

Managerial
Puzzle
Although we were told that Kevin McAllister had the managers job until the
end of the season the Sunday Mail is reporting the following. "Ally
Graham and former Kilmarnock midfielder Gordon Wilde are in the frame to take
over at Albion Rovers. They have joined forces in a bid to form a new
management team. Graham, who is turning out for Queen's Park, is a former
Cliftonhill hero while Wilde was assistant boss at Clyde."
Whether there is any truth in the story remains to be seen!

Beaten But Not Bowed
Rovers may have lost at the Balmoor
Stadium today but they looked a lot better than they have for a while. With
Molloy and Paterson missing due to injury Crunchie drafted in a trialist
central defender with SPL experience and John Bradford came on as a sub for
his first appearance of the season. Looking much more like the team seen
earlier in the season the team competed for almost all of the match. Paul
McManus scored his first since 18th October.
A full match report with pics will be on the site tomorrow!

Crunchie
Speaks
Kevin McAllister has the following
to say about his first week in the Cliftonhill hotseat.
"After having met Stirling Albion on Tuesday, we now face a
long trip to Peterhead, and that's got to be about as tough as it gets.
Although the midweek defeat was a bad one, we
have a good bunch of lads here and it's now up to me to make the most of this
opportunity and the resources we have at Cliftonhill. I'm putting my energies
into turning things around and a win tomorrow would be the ideal tonic.!"

Stirling Cruise To Win
Stirling Albion backed by their
travelling folk band had an easy time of it tonight at Cliftonhill. Three up
at half-time, fans of both sides must have expected a similar number of goal
in the second half but that was all. The side have now gone seven matches
without a win and new boss McAllister has his work cut out to turn things
around anytime soon. Rovers next home match is not until 17th January when
Stranraer are the visitors.
A match report which may include a photo will be on the site later tonight.
It's Crunchie
Despite already having received three
applications for the position Rovers moved quickly to appoint fans' favourite
Kevin "Crunchie" McAllister to the Cliftonhill hotseat for the
remainder of the season at least. The post remains full-time, one downside of
his appointment is that Crunchie as a player will be seen much less often,
preferring instead to coach from the sidelines.
Resignations
The rumours were proved true last night
when manager Peter Hetherston along with his assistant Jock McStay departed
from Cliftonhill. Silky offered his resignation on Saturday after the cup
defeat at the hands of Montrose which also saw the gaffer sent to the stand.
Apparently the board of directors tried to get him to stay on but he rejected
their offer. Hetherston is due
before the SFA next week to explain his sexist remarks about the female
assistant referee he made at Montrose a few weeks ago.
Kevin McAllister and Frank Connor will take charge of the team tonight for the visit of league leaders Stirling Albion.

Silky On TV
The rumour was true Silky did indeed
appear on "Offside" with Tam Cowan tonight. The
"interview" was mainly slagging the gaffer about his sexist remarks
about the female assistant referee at Montrose and surprise surprise the
Rovers. The show saw John McCririck out-numpty Tam,
even he managed to mention Rovers in a derogatory way.
Peter claimed that the bad language which saw him sent to the stand actually came from his assistant Jock McStay. One clip of Silky in action was shown - in it he was seen scoring a goal for Airdrieonians.
