Dumbarton
Due to the direct train service to Dumbarton there
shall not be a supporters bus next Saturday. Dumbarton East station is only
around a 10 minute walk from the Strathclyde Homes Stadium (head for the big
rock and you can't go wrong). For those fancying a refreshment before the match
the Rock Bowling Club is most peoples preferred venue and it's located 100 yards
past the stadium (round the side of the rock).
Trains depart Coatbridge Sunnyside at 1, 16, 31 and 46 minutes past each hour with travel times being 57 minutes on the 1 and 31 minutes service and 50 minutes on the 16 and 46 minutes service. The adult return ticket price is £5.35.
Trains depart 2 minutes earlier from Coatdyke station and 3 minutes later from Blairhill. The adult costs are £5.45 from Coatdyke and £5.25 from Blairhill.
The return trains leave at 4.57, 5.04 and 5.27.

Honours Even
Rovers drew 1 - 1 with 3rd placed Stenhousemuir today to keep 2nd place in the
table. The 14th penalty taken at Cliftonhill in the space of a week gave the
visitors the lead with Ciaran Donnelly the culprit. Kenny Wright bagged the
equaliser for Rovers.
Due to problems on the M8 in Glasgow and the east of the country the referee turned up only around 15 minutes before kick-off and opposition manager Campbell Money only around 10 minutes before. There was talk that kick-off was to be delayed until 3.15 but it went ahead at 3.00. The torrential rain had several people phoning the ground to check if it was still on and despite water lying around Cliftonhill the drainage on the pitch coped marvelously.
A match report and pics shall be on the site later!

Penalty Loss
After winning on Saturday with a couple of
penalties Rovers tonight exited the Challenge Cup by losing 4 - 3 on penalties
to 2nd division Berwick Rangers after drawing 1 - 1 in 90 minutes. Jamie
McKenzie scored Rovers equaliser deep into injury time at the end of normal time
and no goals were scored in extra-time.
A match report will be on the site either Wednesday or Thursday.
John Reynolds
After the match this website presented the outgoing general manager with a
bottle of his favourite tipple followed immediately by the trust also presenting
him with another bottle.

Reynolds Retires
Club general manager John Reynolds has announced
that he is retiring a week today (Friday 17th August). Having been in the job
for 11 years John has been the lynchpin of the club for that period having been
present during the reign of (I believe) nine managers not mentioning caretaker
ones. He has combined his role with that of safety officer for several years,
utilising his experience as a senior police officer for the benefit of the club.
Not originally a fan of the club John admits he'll be returning to Cliftonhill to watch the matches as it's now under his skin. Citing frustration with red tape as a partial reason for his departure John has always been there for fans to contact with their needs and none more so than this website which couldn't have operated effectively without his help in providing information.
So that's a big thanks from the webmaster for your help over the years.

Winger Lands
Rovers signed 19 year-old David Dimilta from
Hamilton Accies and he went straight into the CIS cup match at Gayfield.
Cup Exit
Rovers crashed out of the CIS Cup losing 4 - 2 to Arbroath at Gayfield. The
first goal was lost in a mere 21 seconds and things went from bad to worse
losing 3 more before the half-hour mark. As things couldn't get worse in the 2nd
they actually improved somewhat but it was never going to be anything but a defeat
after shipping so many goals early on.
A match report (no pics - I forgot my camera and my mobile pics were useless) will be on the site Thursday.

New
Additions
John McCormack has added a couple of players to the
squad, they are forward Roddy Hunter 22 formerly of Clyde (interestingly Hunter
scored four goals in a single match against Stranraer last year so a repeat of
that this Saturday would be most welcome). Hunter scored the winner at Montrose on
Saturday whilst listed as a trialist. The other fresh face is Kenny Wright also
a 22 year-old striker, signed from Stranraer he also played for
Motherwell.
Both players are eligible to play at Gayfield tomorrow in the CIS cup.
Family Day
This Saturday when Stranraer are guests at Cliftonhill is being transformed into
a family day. There will be a band from 2.15pm with half time entertainment and
admission will be £10 for a family of two adults and children.
