Challenge Cup QF Draw
The draw for the Quarter Finals of the Challenge
Cup were made at Hampden today and Rovers were pitted against the only other
remaining 3rd division team in the cup, namely Arbroath! The tie will be played
at Cliftonhill and shall be on (we presume our traditional Tuesday) the 12th of
September which is just 4 days after we visit Gayfield on league business.

Elgin Thrashed
In an enthralling cup tie at Cliftonhill tonight
Rovers thrashed Elgin City 5 - 2 in a match which could have ended up 10 - 4. A
Donnelly penalty, then a Lennon goal, two from Chaplain and a nice Savage strike
went down nicely.
Rovers will have no fear of the opposition thrown up by the draw on Thursday!
Montrose
A reminder to fans that this weekends match at Montrose is on Sunday with a 3pm
kick-off. Regrettably there is no bus going to the match.

Derby Day Draw
A goal seconds into injury time from Joe Savages
head gave Rovers a deserved share of the points in this tight match at
Cliftonhill. A cross-cum-shot by Weatherston had put the Spiders ahead in 54
minutes.
This match saw a special guest entertained in the board room, 84 year-old Peter Blain who played for Rovers alongside Jock Stein during his stint at Cliftonhill in the late 1940's and early 1950's. Peter is on holiday from his home in Australia and was at Firhill to see the challenge cup triumph and was particularly impressed by Gordon Lennon in that match.
The Albion Rovers Supporters' Trust presented Mr. Blain with a goodie bag containing a programme form the recent Jock Stein Friendship Trophy match, a scarf, hat and other items!
Ballboy and trust committee member Shaun Millar made the presentation with a short speech, Mr. Blain responded with a thank-you speech and a wee reminiscence.

Reserves
The club has withdrawn from the Reserve league West
for a variety of reasons not least being the travelling involved to Gretna and
Queen of the South, Queen's Park and Morton being the only other teams in the
league. It's unclear at present whether they shall participate in the reserve
cup.
