Away Defeat
Rovers this afternoon suffered their first league defeat
away from home since 20th of November. They lost 3-1 to Queen's
Park ending another run at the same time, namely 10 matches unbeaten at Hampden.
It was the proverbial game of two halves with Rovers leading 1-0 at half-time but being 2-1 down within 5 minutes of the restart, losing a further goal on the 90 minute mark when pressing for an equaliser.

Cliftonhill. Anybody able to help is requested to turn up at Cliftonhill on
Wednesday (24th) at around 9am - a truck shall be leaving from the ground to collect
it and folk are required to help, although they may well be most helpful when
the material arrives at Cliftonhill.
The turf shall not be getting laid on the pitch but shall be getting used for
training and warming-up on. If possible please let us know by email
if you intend going so that we can plan accordingly!
Bell's Pull-Out
After something like 7 years sponsoring
the Scottish Football League distillers Bell's have announced that the shall not
be renewing their contract at the end of the season. Unless a replacement sponsor
can be found for next season the finances of all SFL clubs would be severely
impacted.

Ask Chappie
A reminder that as advertised in the latest Chappie' Chat our
head-coach :
Next week’s column will be “Ask the
Manager” time. I should be grateful if you could e-mail questions to (now
deleted) and these will be passed to me for comment. A deadline of Wednesday 5pm will
ensure that I answer as many as I can. I will endeavour to answer all the
questions submitted but be aware that any questions that are negative or
detrimental will not be included. This is an opportunity for genuine Rovers fans
to ask about life at Rovers, not a forum to question decisions and criticise
tactics. I know that the real fans amongst you will play by the rules. I hope
you do as I have always maintained that I want open channels of communication.
I look forward (with a degree of trepidation) to your questions…
Jim

A Win on
the Road
Rovers kept up their bizarrely good away record
which last saw them losing on 20th November 2004 while away from home. Jim
Chapman's lads kept plugging away for the win and the celebrations after the
opening goal would have graced any world cup one. The win puts Rovers third in
the table albeit after only the second league match, Rovers are hosts to second
placed Stenhousemuir next Saturday.
A full match report with pics will be on the site tomorrow.

Frank Talking
New chairman of the board Frank Meade today gave the website an interview about
him and his ambitions for the club. This shall be on the website later.
(10/8/05)
Gretna'd
As expected Albion Rovers exited the CIS cup at
home to Gretna in the first round tonight. The scoreline was 2 - 1 to the
border club which is a creditable improvement on last years league meetings
between the clubs which saw Rovers lose 6 goals on 3 occasions and 5 the other
time.
It was a lacklustre game with little in the way of atmosphere Rovers shots were few and far between but a late strike by Chisholm gave home fans heart before Mr. Hardie blew the final whistle.
(6/8/05)
New Chairman
Frank Meade has been appointed
chairman of Albion Rovers F.C., Frank who only became a director this year is
also the driving force behind the Supporters Trust. We wish him the best!
Opener Drawn
Rovers opened their league campaign with a 2-2 draw against bookies favourites
to win the championship Arbroath. Although Rovers opened the scoring it took an
equaliser 2 minutes from the end for them to gain a point.
(4/8/05)
Volunteers Wanted
As you will no doubt know by now Rovers
brand spanking new programme (£1) will go on sale this Saturday. The partly
colour production has been completely revamped by the Supporters' Trust and we
would like this to reach the widest possible audience. We are looking for
volunteers to sell it, if anyone would like to sell it at every home game (from
around 45 mins before kick-off onwards) or would like to go on a rota to do it occasionally
please let us know!
That perennial programme seller Tommy Cooper shall be continuing in that
capacity, the intention is not to replace him.
Pics
Club photographer Jane Knox was on hand tonight to take player mugshots for use
in the programme and on this website. Player profiles shall be updated on
Friday.
Injury
Striker George Wallace is expected to be missing
for several weeks due to sustaining ligament damage in a non-footy related fall.
(3/8/05)
Come to Cliftonhill this Saturday and meet the new Albion Rovers squad. First home match of the season versus Arbroath at 3pm followed by a meet and greet in the club canteen after the match. This is a unique opportunity to meet the team : don’t miss out.
Cup
Draw
Rovers have been drawn at home to Hamilton Accies in the first round of the
Reserve League Cup, ties to be played by 31st October.
