5000th Goal Competition
Scored 29th April 2006
By Craig Young

29th April 2006
Albion Rovers all-time 5000th league goal was bagged by Craig Young at Stenhousemuir today. The goal was timed at 78 times by our official source (the BBC website) and the winner of the £200 plus hospitality package at a match next season is Stephen McEwan of Coatbridge who predicted the goal would be scored by Young in 80 minutes and was therefore the nearest.

5000th
Goal Competition
Today sees the launch of the Albion Rovers
Supporters' Trust 5000th goal competition. As you may know Albion Rovers are
fast approaching their 5000th goal in the Scottish Football League since joining
in 1903. At the time of writing they've scored 4987.
The basic idea is that entrants pick the match, player and for tie-break purposes the time of the goal in whole minutes in which they think the 5000th goal shall be scored. Entrants may pick trialists, own-goals and match officials to score should they see fit to do so, in that event they don't need to name the opposition player, official or trialist but just state O.G., trialist or official on their entry.
At the time of launch there are 2 matches which are yet to be
re-scheduled (Arbroath at home and Stenhousemuir away) and entrants may chose
these games before the date for playing them is set. Entrants should specify the opposition as normal
and state “rescheduled” instead of a date.
Prize
The prize shall be 50% of all money placed on
predictions subject to a guaranteed minimum of £150
and a hospitality package for 2 persons at an
Albion Rovers home match (to be agreed). In addition a £50
bonus shall be paid to the winner if their prediction was placed 14 or
more days prior to the goal being scored.
