A win after 10 matches without one would always be welcome but to win a derby match against Queen's Park made it all the sweeter.
A mazy run by Donachy saw the 22 year old expertly evade the Queen's defence only to produce a shot best forgotten. Play quickly switched ends and Mark Ferry loosed a low shot from the edge of Rovers' box for McGlynn to pick up without much difficulty.
The visitors were gifted an ideal opportunity to score in 6 minutes when Steven Noble put a weak passback to his 'keeper which the Queen's man was quick to chase. Luckily for Rovers Gary McGlynn was quick off his mark to clear the danger.
A shot by the amateurs was too high then Gordon Lennon was well placed to make an interception which diffused a brewing situation beautifully. Stephen Donachy made an impressive mazy run sidestepping a couple of defenders en-route, defenders blocked any easy cross so a strong shot resulted in the ball rebounding off the 'keepers legs.
A hard shot by Ferry was blocked by Donnelly in Rovers penalty area. Murray failed with a brace of shots as did Donnelly before the half-time whistle sounded.
Half-Time
The second period started as the first had - a weak passback by Sinclair causing trouble for the Spiders 'keeper Crawford who scrambled the ball away. In 27 minutes a Donnelly free-kick from 30 yards went inches over.
A Felvus corkscrew shot was too high before Scott Chaplain pumped in a quality strike which was Crawford was equal to, tipping the ball round the post. Jamie Doyle was stretchered off after a clash with Steve Reilly as he went for an apparent 50/50 ball but was adjudged to have fouled the former Stirling Albion midfielder.
David Weatherston replaced Murray in 66 minutes and almost scored within 10 seconds when he tried to get his head onto Quinn ball, missing by inches. In 68 minutes a Felvus free-kick from 25 yards saw McGlynn rooted to the spot as the ball rebounded off his goalpost.
A good move involving Donachy and many of his colleagues broke down in the Queen's box after one touch too many. A couple of minutes later the visitors thought they'd scored when a Felvus free-kick bounced in front of the diving McGlynn and into the net. As the visiting players and fans started to celebrate the nearside assistant referee indicated offside.
Rovers grabbed the lead in 82 minutes when the Queen's Park defence got in a fankle when the ball came in from the far side and despite 'keeper Crawford and a defender being there Craig Young managed to poke the ball into the net from very close range.
Gordon Lennon deftly nipped a Spiders attack in the bud with a couple of minutes remaining, then a poorly executed Reilly passback had his 'keeper scrambling to save. Some frantic play ensued culminating in Lee Sichi obtaining a Chaplain cross and battering in a shot which bounced off Crawford.
Friel, Doyle and Noble all had their names taken by Mr. Collum.
