Albion Rovers players scored all 3 goals in this match but it was Queen's Park that left Cliftonhill with all 3 points when 2 goals went in at the wrong end. A very young Rovers side took to the pitch enforced by injuries to Bradford, Wilson, Mercer and McKenzie against a Queen's side which included a few players who had been rated doubtful.

Queen's started with the strongish wind behind them and didn't waste much time before testing Chris Fahey with a McGinty header being saved. Fahey punched the ball clear when Frankie Carroll was challenging him which was followed soon after by a Mark Ferry shot from distance which rattled off Rovers crossbar.

Carroll attempted a shot from the edge of the box but a defender kicked it out for a corner which Paul Harvey and the wind put onto the Rovers crossbar, and kicked to safety.

Some time later a Friel shot was very high. In 27 minutes the Spiders were handed the lead when both Ferry's and Carroll combined to cause problems in the box. Sean McInulty was the unlucky homester to make contact with the ball and bag an unwanted goal.

Mark Ferry hit a wind-assisted shot past just prior to Trouten nipping past the defence only to shoot into the side netting. Much to the incredulity of home fans and visiting fans alike Queen's doubled their lead when Trouten put in a cross that Neil Wallace blasted into the roof of his own net.

Half Time

There was no immediate sign of a following wind helping Rovers in their quest for goals when the second period started. Frankie Carroll could have done better when a Danny Ferry cross gave him an opportunity which he squandered 2 minutes after the restart.

A low drive from substitute Fleming failed to trouble 'keeper Crawford before Rovers pulled one back in 67 minutes. A bit of defensive ineptitude allowed Ricky Patrick to nip in and lob Crawford from about 6 yards.

A disappointing Silvestro shot preceded an inswinging Jered Stirling free-kick which Crawford managed to catch. With around 5 minutes remaining Spiders fans were convinced the officials had denied them a stonewall penalty when Trouten went down in the Rovers box while Chris Silvestro was close behind. Assistant referee, none other than the infamous Andy Davis and referee Jamie Downie saw nothing wrong and Trouten himself didn't seem to make a claim either.

A Molloy shot across the Rovers goal and a Selkirk header to Crawford concluded the action.

Patrick, Friel and Silvestro of Rovers and Carroll of Queen's received booking during the game.

Summary

More poor fare for Rovers fans at Cliftonhill who will not be unhappy to see the season end in a fortnight. A win at East Fife next Saturday will keep alive the slim possibility of finishing in 8th place at the Fifers expense. Nobody deserved the title of man of the match.
